Bulgaria is located in central Europe. You are excused for not knowing enough about this beautiful nation. But there is always time to learn more.  The Bulgarian nightlife is fun, exciting and thrilling. The cities of Bulgaria come alive during the evening.

Backpackers love Bulgaria for the low cost of living seen here. You will love the stunning beaches and the beautiful bays. The Black Sea Coast is vast and unspoiled. You will love exploring the natural wonders of Bulgaria such as the Rila Mountain and the Pirin Mountain.

 The cities of Bulgaria have a very cosmopolitan air about them. They have lovely parks and incredibly interesting museums. The villages of Bulgaria are absolutely delightful. Plovdiv is a place you must visit, it is home to ancient Roman ruins and architectural wonders. Varna is a beautiful beach-town that is worth a visit too.

 Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, has the reputation of being the most affordable capital city in the world. It is also a very cool place to hang out or to travel to.

 Now, as a backpacker, there’s nothing you would like more than to party. So, head off to Sunny Beach, at the first opportunity you get. It is one of most popular beach resorts in Europe and draws in tens of thousands of young people from all over the world.

Okay, let’s quickly discuss the cost of travelling to Bulgaria, as let’s face it, that is the number one concern that most backpackers have, no matter where they travel to.

 If you are going to stay in Sofia for an extended period of time, it would cost you €220/month to rent a one-bedroom apartment here. If you are going to stay at a hotel, it will only cost you under €10 a night, which is not much, really. You can get the most decent accommodation in Bulgaria for very little.

When you are travelling on a budge in Bulgaria, you will be spending much of your time in restaurants, coffee houses, pubs and taverns. So it is important that you should know how much it costs to eat out in Bulgaria.

You will appreciate that the food in Bulgaria is pretty cheap. You can have a very good meal at a fancy restaurant in Bulgaria for under €10. You can have coffee at a coffee shop in Bulgaria for just €2 and have access to free Wi-Fi too, if you like.  The Shopska salad is a popular dish in Bulgaria and costs only €2.

What about transportation in Bulgaria? Well, Sofia has an excellent metro system. You can get to anywhere you want in Sofia for just €0.50! Imagine that! If you are going to be spending more time there, you can get the railway pass for just €25 for the whole month.  Taxis are affordable too and only cost €5 for a longish ride. You can hire a used car in Bulgaria for less than €100 a month, if you like.

 So what if you want to watch the latest Hollywood blockbuster that has been released? A movie ticket in Bulgaria only costs between €3 and €5.  If you want a ticket at a fancy multiplex, that would cost a bit more, at €5 to €8. So now you have an idea of just how cheap Bulgaria is.
