 Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria is a beautiful has a great reputation of being one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Sofia is full of delightful cafes and restaurants and the best way to explore the city is by foot. Let’s talk about the 8 fun things to do and see in Sofia, the lovely capital of Bulgaria.

Take a Walk Around the City Centre and its Lovely Streets

On your first day in Sofia, take a trip around the City Centre. You will love the Vitoshka Boulevard, which is one of the oldest and most popular pedestrian zones in Europe. You will enjoy walking on its little alleys. Check out the restaurants lining up the Pirotska Street as well, while you’re at it. The Central Market Hall is unique in its own way as well. Sofia is such a beautiful city that no matter which way you go, you will find some place nice. Be sure to walk on the Graf Ignatiev Street, Tsar Shishman Street, and Rakovski Blvd, if you can.

Visit the Parks

Sofia has some very popular parks such as the Borisova Gradina Park and the Yuzhen Park (South Park). There is also a lovely park at the Military Academy on Hristo and another at the Evlogi Georgievi Boulevard. Bask in the peaceful ambience of the natural surroundings.

Visit the Rila Monastery

The Rila Monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage site and it inspires awe and devotion. There is a great calmness about the place. The monastery is dedicated to the memory of St. Ivan of Rila, and it’s fascinating to witness the devotion of ordinary Bulgarians here at the monastery.

Take a Hike to Vitosha

Vitosha is the majestic mountain on the outskirts of Sofia. It takes just a 10-minute walk to get to the greenery of the forests outside the city. It is also a fantastic hiking trail.
